2016 Graduate Student Conference: Call for Papers and Lecture Recitals
The Graduate Music Society of the University of Calgary School of Creative and Performing Arts is pleased to announce a call for papers, and lecture-recitals for their 2016 Graduate Student Conference entitled Confounding Expectations: Music and Multiculturalism. The conference will take place on Thursday, May 12, and Friday May 13, 2016 in the Rozsa Centre on the University of Calgary campus.
Robin Elliot (University of Toronto) is the keynote speaker: "Can You Hear the Difference? Multiculturalism, Interculturalism, and Strategies of Recognition in Canadian Music."
Presentations should be no longer than twenty minutes and lecture-recitals no longer than forty minutes. A ten-minute question period will follow each presentation. Abstracts should be approximately 350 words and must contain no information that could identify you or your institution. All abstracts will be evaluated anonymously and should be suitable for publication in the conference program. The submission deadline has been extended. Submissions must now be received by 23:59 (Mountain time) February 20, 2016. The chosen presenters will be notified on or before Friday, March 10, 2016. Proposals should include your abstract as PDF or DOC file, attached to an email with your Name, Affiliation, Contact information, and AV requirements. If you have any questions regarding your submission, these may also be directed to the musicgradconference -at- gmail.com email address.
